Day 6. First Principle of Freedom
Question 3.
Friend, look at all that would be accomplished on the day the only child was pierced! This piercing would open a fountain of cleansing where people could come and wash and be cleansed. This fountain would also remove idolatry (worshiping something or someone other than the one true God).
Pornography and sexual impurity, abusing drugs and alcohol, mistreating our body with food, having obsessive thoughts about something we want, etc. are all forms of idolatry (Colossians 3:5). But this fountain washes it all away! And this fountain banishes the spirit of impurity from the land!
Such is the powerful cleansing of the fountain, friend! Do you want this kind of washing—this deep cleansing of the soul that washes our sin away entirely and removes idolatry from the land of our hearts?
This is the way to freedom! We must be cleansed and washed! And this is not a one-time experience; this is a fountain, not a pond. A pond is stagnant and could become contaminated, but a fountain always flows, and the water is always fresh and new. It is a place for cleansing.
In the next lesson, we will discuss how to "Wash at the Cross."
