Day 8. First Principle of Freedom

Question 1 and 2

“I look back on how I handled my husband’s committing adultery and see that I was captive to bitterness and unforgiveness. I shunned him, would not be intimate with him, and kept reminding him of his past failures. Then I was led to the gospel by a friend, who pointed me to Setting Captives Free. I saw Jesus dying for me and rising from the dead for me. MY heart was changed! MY sins were shown to me, and I had to confess to my husband and ask for forgiveness, just as he had done to me earlier. We have both forgiven each other now, and I do indeed feel free!” Monica
God can change our hearts! If God starts working on us, eventually we will be sick of the things we used to do and the thoughts in which we used to indulge!
The cross is proof that Jesus will go to any length to save you, rescue you, and set you free. He will do anything—bridge the gap from heaven to earth if need be, nail Himself to a cross and bleed out, then go to hell and back for you! He loves you and is committed to rescuing you, even if it costs Him His own life’s blood! He’s committed to changing us!

I hope and pray that God is changing your heart as you seek Him.
Let’s study a passage that teaches us about washing at the cross:
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain, wrinkle, or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.”
Ephesians 5:25-27

Question 2. According to Ephesians 5:25–27, what is the evidence of Christ’s love for you?
