Lesson 10 Washed by Jesus
Questions 1 and 2
Greetings friend, and welcome back to the course. Let’s do a quick review:
Question 1. What are the three foundational principles of freedom given in this course?
As you can tell, this course is not like other programs and groups for “alcoholism” or “drug addiction” or smoking. Those programs teach you “once an addict, always an addict.” An addict is a slave! But think about it. Do you want to be an addict all your life? If not, this Bible study teaches you the gospel of Jesus Christ, whereupon believing it you receive the power of God’s Spirit to be set free! Slavery or freedom, which do you want?
Today we will focus our time on washing at the cross. I hope this lesson will impress upon you the extreme importance of this principle and that you will gain insight on how to incorporate washing at the cross into your battle plan.
I was defiled in sin for many years - impure, unclean, living in guilt, and covered in shame. I lived to gratify my flesh and foolishly kept turning to sin to calm the voice of conscience and condemnation which lay heavy on my heart and mind. I cannot remember where I heard the following statement, but it was certainly true in my case: "What you are ashamed of, you will repeat." Job, in the Bible, said, "For the thing, I greatly feared has come upon me, And what I dreaded has happened to me" (Job 3:25 NKJV). My guilt and shame kept me captive to sin's power for years.
Question 2. Can you relate to this description? What was it like for you personally?
