Good Gifts From God

Day 3 - Read and reflect on James 1:17

James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”
God never changes. He never varies His message. There is no underlying shadow that He will change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
God is light. There is no darkness in Him. (1 John 1:5) For us to be in fellowship with Him means there must be no darkness in us. The only way for us to walk with God is by believing in Jesus as Lord and Savior. Only in His blood can we be cleansed from all our sins. (1 John 1:6) These sins are our darkness.
God gives His children good and perfect gifts. Sending Jesus to die for us is the first and foremost gift. Jesus left heaven above and came to earth to fulfill God’s plan. That good plan provided a way for all men to be reconciled to God. (Romans 5:10, 2 Corinthians 5:18) Only by believing in Jesus as Lord and Savior can we have this perfect gift. (1 John 2:2)
Another good and perfect gift we have been given is the Spirit who came to dwell in us when we put our faith in Jesus as our Savior. (John 3:34) The Spirit guides in all the truth God has for us. He intercedes for us when we do not know how to pray. He teaches all things. (John 14:26, Romans 8:26-27, 1 John 2:27)
There are so many more gifts God has for His children. Let us walk by faith in the light of Christ and show others His great love to all men. (1 John 2:10)
