Lesson 7 The Spirit Flows From The Cross

Questions 5 and 6

Oh friend, please see what changes would be made. As you think about the Holy Spirit flowing from new hearts, consider these questions: what happened to the murderous thoughts? What happened to the false witness? What happened to the sexual immorality? What happened to the slander, theft, and murder?
With our new hearts of flesh, the evil that once flowed out of our hearts would be crucified and buried! We would then be raised up with Christ where the rivers of living water given through the Spirit would flow out of our hearts. Instead of evil flowing out of our old hard hearts, our new hearts would flow the rivers of living water of; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:19-23)
I’ve got a river of life flowing out of me Makes the lame to walk and the blind to see, Opens prison doors, sets the captives free I’ve got a river of life flowing out of me.

Friend, receiving the Spirit that flowed into our hearts from believing the message of the cross, makes the lame walk and the blind see. Our prison doors are opened wide and captives are set free. This is the life Jesus died to give you and me and the cross is the message of hope and power that radically changes our lives and gives us the ability to truly love like never before.
The following video was posted to the Setting Captives Free Men's Marco Polo group in November of 2019. Take a moment and listen to this encouraging word from Setting Captives Free Board Member, Erick Hurt as he speaks of how Christ opens prison doors and sets captives free.
