Lesson 18: Sticks And Stones

Question 3

Dear friends, we would like to use this passage below to pray with you and for you. This passage shows how God brought peace to both Jew and Gentile (believer and unbeliever). By the power of the cross He will certainly bring peace and unity to you while breaking down the wall of hostility in your marriage, just as the Lord used the gospel to break down the wall of hostility that brought peace and unity to our marriage.
“But now [at this very moment] in Christ Jesus you who once were [so very] far away [from God] have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace and our bond of unity. He who made both groups --[Jews and Gentiles]-- into one body and broke down the barrier, the dividing wall [of spiritual antagonism between us], by abolishing in His [own crucified] flesh the hostility caused by the Law with its commandments contained in ordinances [which He satisfied]; so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thereby establishing peace. And [that He] might reconcile them both [Jew and Gentile, united] in one body to God through the cross, thereby putting to death the hostility.” ‬Ephesians 2:13-16 AMP
We wanted to use the passage above to pray with you and for you.
Our Father in heaven, we lift up this couple to you today and pray that the two of them are brought near to each other at this very moment. Thank You that we were all brought near by the blood of Jesus Christ. Thank You that You not only brought us near but gave us peace through Jesus’ blood and the forgiveness of our sins when You broke down the dividing wall of hostility on the cross, so that any marriage could experience true power and unity. Lord, please mold this couple into “one” (out of two) as they embrace the cross together which brought them near to You and therefore closer together.  Thank You that You are reconciling this husband and wife through your finished work on the cross where you put to death the hostility that stood against them, and raised them up with resurrection power to live a new life. A new life, a new marriage, and a fresh start. We ask all of this in Jesus’ name, amen.
