Lesson 3 Temporary Pleasure or Eternal Pleasures
Question 5
If we can acknowledge that addiction to media provides temporary pleasure, and that the thrill of it doesn’t last, then we might be ready to discover how to find the eternal pleasures in Jesus Christ. That’s what this course is designed to do.
So for today’s lesson let’s just take some time to compare and contrast the temporary pleasure of media, with the life, fullness and eternal pleasures of Jesus Christ. Just let the phrase “temporary pleasure vs. eternal pleasures” ring in your mind for a little bit today. Think about it just now. What thoughts do you get when comparing the two? If you’ve spent some time comparing these two then we have a basis for some very enjoyable discoveries in our future lessons.
For the next couple of days, we are going to read a story together. It’s a story of a woman who began discovering some of the very things we are talking about in this course. She found that for a long time in her life she was far too easily satisfied. We’ll see some very real comparisons with her life and with what it is like to be addicted to media.
Once this woman met Jesus, she found life, the fullness of joy and eternal pleasures. Wait until you see the amazing discoveries she made. Especially in light of the fact that we can make those same discoveries today! It is an incredibly enjoyable story, and I think you’ll relate to it. We’ll begin reading it in our next lesson.
