Lesson 6 Anyone Who is Thirsty Come to Me and Drink
Questions 2, 3 and 4
Now today we want to actually find out what the “living water” is that Jesus provides to all who ask. What is it that will quench our “thirst” forever? What is it that will satisfy our longings and cravings, that will provide lasting contentment and bring peace to our hearts? We’ve already seen that media does not do that, so what does? What is the living water?
In order to discover that, let’s look at a passage just a few chapters further along in the book of John. Here Jesus will tell us exactly what this “living water” is. Let’s read it together:
John 7:37-39 NIV “On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. (38) Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them." (39) By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.”

Again we see that Jesus makes this offer to “anyone.” Regardless of your standing or situation in life, Jesus’ offer is to you. It is for “anyone” and everyone.
Question 3. According to verse 37, on what condition is the promise of living water based?

Yes, we have to be “thirsty” in order to receive the living water from Jesus. That means we have to acknowledge that we’ve been doing things, like the woman at the well, that show we have longings and cravings, unmet desires that we are turning to media (or relationships, like the woman at the well) to try to satisfy.
Question 4. According to John 7:37-39, if we find that we are thirsty, what do we need to do to get the living water?
