Lesson 16 Sinking in Media Addiction, Lifted Up by Jesus!
Question 5
God heard the cries of His people and rescued them. Jesus heard the cry of Peter and saved Him. The same is true for us today if we only believe.
According to Matthew 14:31 Peter sank because he had “little faith” and he doubted. We have been studying, for the past few days, the power of faith. As Peter looked at Jesus his faith was strong and he walked on water above the stormy lake. But when he took his eyes off of Jesus he doubted, lost faith and began to sink.
Faith comes by hearing the gospel message, by looking at Jesus, becoming purposely immersed and obsessed with Him and believing in Him. As we do these things we are able to overcome media addiction and areas of darkness in which we had previously been sinking. This is the power of faith!
Faith is the “jumper cables” that connect us to the “power source” of God. Faith connects us with the gospel, giving us power and grace and filling our hearts with so much love, enabling us to escape media addiction and live differently than we did before.
Tomorrow, I want to begin sharing with you a couple of stories that will have us looking squarely at Jesus, seeing His power and love for us, and we will discuss how seeing Him in this way increases our faith and frees us from media addiction.
