To be a mentor with Setting Captives Free, you must be familiar with and in agreement with the content of the current courses. All prospective mentors need to have completed the course in which they want to mentor.

Question 8. Have you personally completed any Setting Captives Free courses? If so, which ones and when? Did you have a Setting Captives Free mentor at any point?

In the next lesson, we will begin studying how we mentor others using the gospel of Jesus Christ. In essence, we are teaching students how we have learned to wash at the cross, walk by the Spirit, and war against our flesh! We want to help them learn to do the same and experience the freedom that comes through the gospel.
Throughout the course, we will consider fictional “students” with separate sin issues and teach how we would mentor them to freedom, as well as give you an opportunity to provide some sample responses to them. This is a very enjoyable and helpful exercise.
One last thought before you go, Setting Captives Free is a non-denominational ministry, and we seek to focus on the most important thing. This means that our focus and attention is on the gospel of Jesus Christ, and we seek to do exactly as the Apostle Paul did:
1 Corinthians 2:2 (NCV) I decided that while I was with you I would forget about everything except Jesus Christ and his death on the cross!
Please consider whether or not this is your aim and focus as well. If you have denominational distinctives that you believe in, things that your denomination has elevated as necessary, then you will want to pray about and consider carefully whether you wish to hold to those things or become a mentor with us. As a non-denominational ministry, we do not allow the teaching of any subject that is a denominational distinctive; nothing should be elevated to the place of the gospel except the real gospel (the death of Jesus for our sins, and the resurrection of Jesus from the dead).

Question 9. As you consider the above restriction, do you hold to any doctrinal beliefs that you deem as necessary for salvation/sanctification in addition to the gospel of Jesus Christ? Please explain.
