Lesson 8 Mentor Resources

Question 1

Hello and welcome back to the mentorship course. You’ve persisted through a lot of instruction, given some sample answers to “course members,” and within a couple of days will apply to be a volunteer mentor. I’m really glad to see you pressing on and I pray for your fruitfulness in ministry.
Today I want to share with you the resources available to you as a mentor. Please examine the below resources, and then feel free to ask any question that you would like.
Setting Captives Free has a board of directors. We pray together every week as the Lord allows, specifically for God to continue to reach the hearts of our mentors with the message of the cross and for our mentors to present to their students the transforming power of the cross. We also seek God's direction and ask Him for help in keeping our ministry focused on the cross, and then we pray for mentors and students. The following are the names and contact emails for each board member:
Secondly, if you are accepted as a mentor, you will start out as a "Mentor in Training" with a Supervisor who will review your responses to students before you submit them. You will be a Mentor in Training for a minimum of 10 student lessons, or however long your supervisor deems necessary.
The role of the supervisor is to be there for you if you have questions as to how to respond, as well as provide helpful feedback where needed. You will write out your responses to your student, and then when you submit your answer, it will go to your supervisor. He will likely make suggestions to you, which you can then implement and resubmit for his/her approval.
Fellow mentors are also available to help you. If accepted as a mentor, you can ask for help with a particular student, share ideas, and interact with other mentors through our mentor's email list. You will find wisdom, grace, and help for yourself or with answering students in a gospel-focused way.
