Lesson 11 Warring Against the Flesh, Jesus Won the Battle

Question 8

Consider these points from the above passage:
Victory in Jesus is yours. God has no intention of allowing you to lose the battles of life. Impurity is a defeated foe.
  • Victory is something that God “gives” us. We don’t earn it. No! Like salvation, victory is a gift of God’s grace.
  • Victory is given us by God “through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Since Jesus is Lord of all (Acts 10:36), He can and will triumph in all situations. So we may boldly proclaim “victory in Jesus!”
  • Ongoing victory in Christ in this fallen world is something for which to give “thanks...to God”. Remember this as you begin winning your battles. It’s not your skill or cunning, your hard fighting or the number of battle strategies you employ. Yes, we must do the fighting, but in the end, we must thank God for His grace. Moses on the hill won the battle for the Israelites. Jesus on the hill won the battle for us. Thank Him!
Dear friend, as you continue to “War against the flesh,” please remember that through faith in Jesus Christ the outcome of your battle is sure. You must learn how to replace the lies of Satan with the truth of the gospel. You must fight the good fight of faith; you must resist the devil; you must make no provision for your flesh; you must put to death whatever belongs to your earthly nature. Yes, you must do all these things to fight, but remember the battle has already been won. The outcome should never be in question. Grace has been purchased for you at the cross. Rely on the grace Jesus has for you!

Question 8. How are you today? Is the good news of the cross breathing life into your heart? And if not, even if you are struggling or failing, please share with your mentor, who longs to pray for and with you, and share God’s own counsel from His Word.
