Lesson 44 Warring Against the Flesh: The Lord Gives the Victory.
Question 7
The Bible connects the gospel (the “good news”) with David’s son hanging in the tree, having been stabbed in his heart. This “good news” was that David was vindicated and David was victorious. David was "delivered". “Vindication” is the act of clearing someone of all blame; it is proof that someone is right, or justified.
Friend, as you look at the cross today, and see the Man hanging there in that tree, having had His heart pierced for you, you should see this sight as being good news for you. I am a runner coming to you saying that the Lord has vindicated you; that is, He has cleared you of all blame by putting your guilt on the King’s Son, Jesus, and then hanging Him in the tree. He has declared you right and justified you. “However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness” (Romans 4:5). He has delivered you (2 Corinthians 1:10).
But the good news is that not only were you vindicated, but that the Lord has also delivered you and given you the victory. Look at that Man hanging in the tree, pouring blood and water from His heart, and you will see your success in battle! Regarding all your enemies, Jesus “made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross” (Colossians 2:15).
Question 7. How is the cross of Christ the display of your vindication and victory over sin and Satan?

Jim writes, "At the cross, Jesus, who knew no sin, became sin on my behalf. All of my debts, all the times I lusted in my heart, looked at porn, or conjured up fantasies in my mind were placed upon Him and nailed to that dreadful tree. By dying for me, Jesus vindicated me. He said, "your sins won't count against you because I have taken them from you and have cleared your name!" By this vindication I am justified in the sight of God. I no longer need to fear Satan or succumb to my flesh because they have been defeated, like Absalom in the forest."
