Lesson 50 Warring Against the Flesh: Abiding in the Vine
Question 7
As we remain in Christ, we bear the fruit of crucifying the flesh. As we continue in Christ, we bear the fruit of godly character and godly living. As we remain in Christ, we bear the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control. And by bearing these fruits, the world can see that we are disciples or followers of Jesus.
Summary: In John 15, Jesus stresses the essential truth of how to grow in Christ and how to produce fruit: “remain in Me.” Do you want to overcome pornography, self-gratification, adultery, and all forms of impurity? Remain in Christ. Do you want to produce the fruit of the Spirit and mature in your faith? Remain in Christ. Remain in His Word and prayer. Continue to receive grace from Him; continue to embrace the benefits of the cross. This is the secret to Christ living His life through you!
