Lesson 38 Washing At The Cross: Our Victory Over Satan

Questions 3 and 4

So, there is the gospel of Jesus Christ showing the cross in living color right from the Old Testament! But have you ever noticed how the next chapter, Isaiah 54, tells us of the victory of the cross and how it “shuts the mouth” of Satan? Take a look:
Isaiah 54:14-17 ESV “(17) no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, declares the LORD.”

Question 3. How does Isaiah 54:14-17 show your victory over accusation and judgment?

In this way, we can see the connection between Isaiah 53 and Isaiah 54. Isaiah 53 is all about the cross, the punishment Jesus endured for you. Isaiah 54 speaks of the effects of the cross, that no weapon will strike you down, and that no argument against you will stand up in God’s court of law.
This means that the cross of Jesus Christ has vindicated you! Webster’s dictionary defines “vindication” to mean “to justify,” “to avenge,” “to deliver,” and “to set free!”

Question 4. Please fill in the blank: Isaiah 54:17 NIV “no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and , from me declares the LORD.”
