Lesson 4: Watching the Lamb Who Died to Free Us From Sin’s Power
Question 1
Greetings again, friend. Welcome back to this course!
We have been studying 1 Peter 2:4-10 for the past three lessons. Today I want to invite you to watch the following video from Lennart, a Setting Captives Free mentor, who is sharing spontaneously on the Setting Captives Free Men’s Marco Polo group. He references the passage we have been studying for three days, so I thought this is a good way for us to conclude this portion of the course.
I want you to see how the power of the cross makes our dear brother in awe of the Lamb Who died to remove his sin, as Psalm 22:23 tells us it does, while at the same time it breaks the power of sin in his life.
Watch how practical Lennart makes it, showing that it is the vision he sees of the cross that crucified him along with Jesus, that buries his sin along with Jesus’ dead body, and that raises him up to new life along with Jesus.
Watch how he says that at the cross his own heart is cut and wounded, along with Jesus’ heart that was pierced, and that the cross is where he finds daily freedom.
As you are watching, notice Lennart’s focus: it is like a laser on the Spirit of God and the message of the cross, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, and how this Lamb has broken the power of canceled sin in his life.
Question 1. How will the testimony from Lennart help you guide mentors-in-training to continue to view the cross in their own lives, as they mentor students with us?
