As a supervisor, you will have the opportunity to help shape the ministry of Setting Captives Free well into the future. You are replicating yourself to new mentors, who will then replicate themselves to their students in accordance with 2 Timothy 2:2:
“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others” (2 Timothy 2:2).
Supervisors are teachers who are teaching teachers to teach. 2 Timothy 2:2 tells us what to look for in a supervisor:
Someone who is reliable. At Setting Captives Free, a supervisor candidate is one who has served as a mentor long enough to show reliability as a mentor. They respond to students promptly and persevere through the difficulty of mentoring students who drop out or don’t apply themselves to their studies (students who argue or answer with only one sentence, etc.).
Someone who is qualified. Meaning that they are cross-focused, walking by the Spirit, and overcoming their flesh. Not perfect, but growing.
Someone who can teach others. They must have a desire to minister the gospel and the ability to do so.
