We have been studying the principle "Warring against the flesh." So, we should understand by now that any warring against our flesh will bring with it suffering. But notice how these two principles are joined together in this passage:
"Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer" (2 Timothy 2:3-4).
As we see from this passage, suffering is warfare, and the invitation to us is to join in suffering like a good soldier of Christ Jesus so that we might please God, our commanding officer.
When it comes to losing weight and getting healthy, we must be prepared to suffer. We turn away from comforting our flesh, and instead, we crucify it, which is painful! Part of our battle plan must include the readiness to suffer. Let's see this in the Scriptures:
Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin. 2 As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God” (1 Peter 4:1-2).

Question 2. According to 1 Peter 4:1, what is the benefit of suffering in the body?
