Lesson 3 Washing at the Cross: United with Christ in His Death

Questions 1 and 2

Greetings, so glad to have you back today!
In this lesson, we will begin to go deeper into the truths that transform - the principles of freedom that we learned in the Weight Loss Bootcamp course - and continue to learn how to apply them for the good stewardship of the body God has entrusted to us. Please read the following passage and answer the questions below:
“What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?” Romans 6:1-2 (NIV)
In the previous chapter, Paul made the statement: “where sin increased, grace increased all the more” (Romans 5:20), and he knew that some people might use skewed logic and state that we could continue to sin so that grace would continue to increase in our lives. So he addresses this wrong thought process immediately.
Paul says this is the wrong conclusion to draw; we should not go on sinning, for something has happened! Something happened to make sin’s slavery impossible!

Question 1. Please fill in the blank: “Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have ; how can we live in it any longer?” Romans 6:1-2 NIV

As we study Romans 6, one theme becomes readily apparent in the first couple of verses, and this theme is carried on and expounded upon in the rest of the chapter. The theme is that we died with Christ. The implications of this truth are life-altering to those who genuinely desire, in their hearts, to apply it. This truth is one that transforms!

Question 2. Why do you think the truth that we died to sin could be so life-changing to the believer?
