Lesson 6: Walking by the Spirit: Transformation
Questions 4 and 5
This veil is removed when we turn to the Lord. We hear the good news that Jesus kept the Law perfectly for us, that He lived in total obedience to His Father, and that all of His obedience and law-keeping is attributed to our account! We hear that Jesus then died as our Substitute, paying the penalty for our law-breaking, taking the wrath due to everyone who doesn’t measure up. We turn to the Lord in sorrow over our sin but joyful to receive full pardon and complete forgiveness.
And the veil is removed! That which kept our minds dull and our hearts and bodies enslaved is removed as we wash at the cross!
And something else happens at the cross: We receive the Holy Spirit!
Question 4. According to 2 Corinthians 3:17 NIV, what do we receive when the Spirit of the Lord comes to us?

The most amazing thing happens when the Holy Spirit comes into the life of a believer. He sets us free! “Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom!” (2 Corinthians 3:17). We are freed from the curse and condemnation of the Law, freed from the wrath of God (John 3:36), freed from the power of sin (1 Corinthians 15:56), and freed to worship!
We talk about walking by the Spirit repeatedly because where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. This freedom is a powerful release from the chains of sin, a powerful breaking of food’s domination in our lives, a powerful death to our old selves, and a powerful resurrection to new life!
Question 5. According to 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 NIV, what is the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives?
