Friend, the Bible is clear that when Jesus died on the cross, we died with Him. Yet we know we are still tempted and even sin. We are faced with a choice. Do we exercise faith in God’s Word? Or do we believe the facts?
The rest of Romans chapter 6 shows us how exercising faith to believe what God says changes the facts! Abraham believed God’s Word over the “facts,” and defying all logic, he and Sarah had a son! They named him Isaac, which means “laughter.” Faith leads not only to a change in our circumstances but also to joyous laughter! Real happiness!
The truth is, we can believe the apparent facts and live by sight, or we can believe the facts that God says in His Word and live by faith.
So, here is what it looks like in my daily life if I believe the truth of God’s Word that I died with Christ: when tempted to gratify my flesh with food or in some other way, I believe God’s Word that tells me I died with Christ. I see myself hanging on the same cross with Jesus. We have both breathed our last breath and are now hanging limp on the cross.
There we are, crucified together, both dead. And a dead man can’t gratify his flesh, especially one nailed to a cross! I could be hit time and time again by temptation, and each time I live by the truth: “I died to sin, how can I live in it any longer?”
Question 5. Why is it important to know that you died with Christ in the area of your eating and exercising?

Wende has a great answer to the above question, "Because the temptations will come and the lies with them. The lies say, "You'r not really dead, God is gracious, he know you are not perfect, go ahead, you'll be fine." if I know I am dead then I won't listed to the lies. It is a done deal."
Oh, friend, how I want you to see this picture as I am right now. I want you to grasp the truth that “you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3). If you can see your old self hanging on the cross dead with Jesus, if you can hear the flatline tone, it will change the way you live! You’ll no longer live in bondage to your flesh, for that old self is now a corpse to you! You’ll begin to glory in the cross, knowing that it has put the old you to death and that you are a new person now.
Question 6. Can you see your old self as dead with Christ on the cross?
