Chris provided a very helpful answer to the above question when she writes:
"Before the cross, sin keeps us from Christ’s holiness but after the cross our sins have been put on Jesus who died taking our deserved punishment and He rose. We are now washed and reconciled to Christ. We run to our Savior whom we trust, love, cherish."
Welcome back, friend!
Today, we will learn about the message of power that changes our hearts, minds, and, eventually, our bodies.
In his first letter to the church at Corinth, Paul wrote to address several problems in the church. The Corinthian church was fraught with such issues as divisions and factions, sexual impurity, including incest, infighting and lawsuits, drunkenness and marital conflict, etc. On their own, any of these would be difficult, but this church had them all, and they wanted help.
When faced with these challenging problems, Paul makes an amazing statement. He says: “For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2 NIV).

Question 2. When writing to the Corinthians, why do you think the Apostle Paul resolved to know nothing except Jesus Christ and Him crucified?

Paul had a powerful message! Paul understood that when it came to addressing the deep issues of life (indeed, every issue of life), He needed to bring a message more powerful than the sin involved. He refused to bring a message of human wisdom or merely common sense; rather, he resolved to redirect and reorient the Corinthians to “Jesus Christ and Him crucified.”
We face the same types of issues today that the Corinthians had - issues of the flesh. We are dealing with weight loss, and we dare not turn to man’s methods, mere human wisdom, diet programs, or even common sense. Our problems are deeper than that, and they require a more powerful solution. The message of the cross, alone, is powerful to change hearts and transform lives.
It’s important to notice that the cross's message does not need an eloquent or persuasive communicator, as the power is in the message itself. See how Paul came to the Corinthians:
I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words...” (1 Corinthians 2:3-4 NIV).

Question 3. How does Paul describe himself and his speaking abilities in 1 Corinthians 2:3-4 NIV?
