Lesson 21: Walking by the Spirit: Freedom From False Comforts

Testimony and Question 8

Kim writes, "The biblical principles taught in the Weight Loss courses have been helpful to me in that my focus on the cross has sharpened. My walking by the Spirit has become more consistent, and I'm more dependent upon Him and seeking His lead multiple times a day. Warring against my flesh is still ongoing, but I'm winning more wars than losing - to God be the glory!!
In this study, I've learned to seek the Lord for a daily eating plan and follow through with it, remember the cross of Christ and experience cleansing through the blood of Jesus, and to see myself in a coffin, dead, unable to respond to the temptations that surround me. I'm so thankful to be set free from diets/man's wisdom of what to eat and how often, praise the Lord I can enjoy everything as the Spirit leads!! I now get excited about putting to death the deeds of my flesh when tempted versus succumbing.
I've lost a few pounds, but I wasn't overweight at the start. Fortunately, I'm pretty healthy; I did this course to learn how to eat and exercise to the glory of God. Before these courses, I was seeking to look like what the world said I should. Now that I am no longer seeking to live according to the world's system, I am at peace knowing that I look exactly how the Lord has created me to look, which has been so freeing!
My mentor Gail was absolutely wonderful, very consistent, and quick with her responses to my lessons. Her prayers for me were beautiful!
These courses help the student to apply the power of the Gospel to one's life. It encourages us to be sanctified by the power of the Gospel. Most believers know the Gospel will save them from eternal damnation, but they miss out on the transformational power of the Gospel in this life which truly does set us free from the power of sin!"
