Unbelieving and questioning? Come and marvel and worship!
“And they remembered his words, and returning from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles, but these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them. But Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home marveling at what had happened.” Luke 24:8-12
Apostle Peter did not initially believe the women’s testimony that Jesus had risen from the grave, saying they were just “idle tales (madness, feigned things, nonsense)” (Luke 24:11 AMPC). But he ran to peer inside the tomb, seeing only a folded headcloth and a pile of unraveled linen cloths. As Peter saw and then believed that Jesus had risen, his response changed from doubt to belief, wonder and worship.
The resurrection showed us that nothing can hold Jesus back, even death (Acts 2:24). We no longer have eternal judgment but eternal hope as His Father accepted His work of atonement for our sin and returned Jesus to His place of exaltation and honor at His right hand. The earthshaking resurrection gave us the wondrous proof that Jesus, the Author of life, lives and reigns in sovereignty over all our circumstances and triumphs forever over our fearful enemies.
“Christ is risen! Henceforth never
death or hell shall us enthrall.
We are Christ’s, in him forever
we have triumphed over all.
All the doubting and dejection
of our trembling hearts have ceased;
hail the day of resurrection!
Let us rise and keep the feast.”

The great English pastor Spurgeon encouraged us to meditate deeply on God’s “exceeding great and precious promises” (2 Peter 1:4) as they are:
“like grapes in the winepress; if you would tread them the juice will flow.”
How do we access God’s gospel promises and His power to be overcomers in our lives? The link between believing in the gospel message and His promises (Romans 4:20-21) and being certain of God’s raising power (Colossians 2:12) is by our faith.
Heavenly Father, Thank You for sending Your Son to purchase all Your promises from eons past, so we would become Your precious and holy children by Jesus’ death and resurrection. Help us to grow strong in faith, giving glory to You, being fully convinced that You are always able to do what You have promised as it was sealed by Jesus’ blood. When we were baptized, we were buried with Christ, and we were raised up in power, no longer a slave to fear. Draw us daily to come to see You, our bread of life, at the wonderful cross. Help us I pray to hear and speak out the reviving gospel message so we grow in our faith. Please give grace to incline our hearts to worship and to love You more than anything else in our lives. In Jesus Name, Amen. So be it!
“Come,” says the Holy Spirit and the Bride in divine duet. Let everyone who hears this duet join them in saying, “Come.” Let everyone gripped with spiritual thirst say, “Come.” And let everyone who craves the gift of living water come and drink it freely. “It is my gift to you! Come.” Revelation 22:17 TPT
