Lesson 5 – Longsuffering
Question 3
“Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? (5) But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God.” (Romans 2:4-5 NKJV).
God's goodness leads to repentance – His longsuffering allows the message of the Gospel to continue before people.
“and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation -” (2 Peter 3:15a NKJV).
We will look at how Jesus' longsuffering brings us salvation later.
“However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.” (1 Timothy 1:16 NKJV)
God's longsuffering to Paul shows the grace God gives to those who should have perished (Paul – the killer of Christians)
3. Do you see the need to be longsuffering with others? Are you patiently sharing the Gospel with those who seem to have hearts of stone? Have you given up hope that they will ever repent?
