Let’s focus on this fruit of Goodness.
[G19] goodness - agathos-synē it means: uprightness of heart and life, goodness, kindness - a kindly activity toward those who don’t deserve it. This goodness represents a rather more positive tendency of character in the sense of active compassion toward those who have sinned against us.
Isn’t that what Paul teaches?
“Therefore "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head." (21) Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. [G18] (agathos)” (Romans 12:20-21 NKJV)
goodness; is that character in us to hurt none, but to do ALL the good we can to all: A compassionate and charitable nature, with all that is kind, soft, winning, and tender, either in our mood or behavior,
If you are walking in the Spirit – this goodness will be seen.
Only from the Christian is this goodness seen. This word is only used 4 times in the Greek NT.
The focus of the fruit of goodness [G19] agathos-synē is looking at the core foundation within the believer of what is good that only comes from a personal, growing relationship with Jesus.
Let’s briefly look at these 4 times the word agathos-synē is used.
1. “Now I myself am confident concerning you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness [G19] agathos-synē, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.” (Romans 15:14 NKJV)
How do we admonish – that doesn’t sound like goodness? Being full of goodness, we admonish in the spirit of Galatians 6:1:
“Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness (an aspect of the fruit in a few weeks – remember they all blend), considering yourself lest you also be tempted.” (Galatians 6:1 NKJV)
5. How has the Lord given you a spirit of goodness when you correct and help someone who has fallen into sin?
