Lesson 2 - Love

Question 3

God's particular love toward those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

"He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." (22) Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?" (23) Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him." (John 14:21-23 NKJV)
How can we keep Jesus' commandments?
"For when we were still without strength, in due time, Christ died for the ungodly. (7) For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man, someone would even dare to die. (8) But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:6-8 NKJV)
This is the Gospel for us - Jesus kept the commandments for us and died in our place.
"And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma." (Ephesians 5:2 NKJV)
"This is how we have discovered love's reality: Jesus sacrificed his life for us. Because of this great love, we should be willing to lay down our lives for one another." 1 John 3:16 (TPT)
Jesus became our sacrifice and died for our sins.
"In this, the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. (10) In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins." (1 John 4:9-10 NKJV)
