Lesson 2 - Love

Question 6

Conclusion and summary of Love
Self-will that is, self-pleasing, is the negation of love to God.
Whether exercised toward fellow Christians or people generally, Christian love is not an impulse from the feelings. It does not always run with the natural inclinations, nor does it spend itself only upon those for whom some affinity is discovered. Love seeks the welfare of all and works no ill to any. Love seeks opportunity: “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:10 NKJV)
In Summary:
  • God the Father loves Jesus, God the Son,
  • God’s love expresses the deep, constant interest of a perfect God towards sinful people who are entirely unworthy,
  • God’s love produces and fosters a reverential "love" in the believer towards God Himself,
  • God’s love produces a practical "love" in believers towards others,
  • God’s love produces a desire to walk with Jesus and to obey God’s commandments.
