Lesson 1 - Overview

Question 2

Yes, the Gospel is defined as the death of Jesus Christ for our sins, His burial, and His resurrection from the dead on the third day. Not only is the Gospel necessary to believe for our salvation, but it is also to be believed for our sanctification.
Paul wrote to the Christians in Rome and had planned to come and visit them. He wanted to be encouraged together with them because of the mutual faith. (Romans 1:12-14) Then Paul says some wonderful things to the Christians at Rome concerning the Gospel:
"So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also. (16) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. (17) For in it, the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." (Romans 1:15-17 NKJV)
