Day 14. Third Principle of Freedom

Questions 1 and 2

“My whole battle plan was wrong! I was following generic methods rather than asking God for a specific battle plan. Now that I’m seeking the Lord for a plan and have received one, I’m winning!” Greg
Let's not forget our first foundational principle in our zeal to fight. Take a moment with me to behold the cross. There hangs Jesus in the darkness, enduring immense suffering in His body and soul. His soul is an offering for sin (Isaiah 53:10), and He is dying alone, having consumed the cup of God's wrath against sin.
But what is happening in that moment? Jesus is securing victory for you! He is crushing the head of Satan (Genesis 3:15) and abolishing all his works. As 1 John 3:8 declares, "The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work."
Keep this powerful truth in mind as we move forward. Jesus has already won the battle, and it is in His victory that we find strength and courage.
Notice how the cross was the greatest victory over the most intense battle ever fought:
“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”
Colossians 2:13–15

The cross was a huge victory where Jesus disarmed Satan, stripped him bare, stomped on his head, and broke his power. Through the cross, Jesus “broke the power of him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil” (Hebrews 2:14).
And now, my friend, you are called to follow in His steps. As we believe in Christ and His finished work, we are enabled to "run quickly toward the battle” (1 Samuel 17:48), facing our giants, confident that in Christ we are already victorious! The cross should convince you that God is for you, so who or what can stand against you? Nothing and no one! (Romans 8:31)
Do you know that if you are a believer, you have spiritual power over sin? Consider this:
“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”
Luke 10:19
This means you no longer have to be defeated in the battle. Instead of being overwhelmed and beaten, you can stand firm in the Lord. You have the power of God's Spirit within you, and you can overcome “snakes and scorpions” (snakes in the Bible are a picture of Satan’s temptations and sins).
