This is what the enemy tries to do to the church, also; he attempts to drive us back into the land of slavery rather than us taking the escape route the Lord has already laid out. We lift up our eyes and see the enemy and become filled with fear, and we despair of ever finding true freedom. The Israelites had the enemy on one side and the Red Sea on the other, and they could see no possible escape route.
Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? They knew it was over! What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt? They would rather go back to the land of slavery than to die in the wilderness. Is not this what we said to you in Egypt: “Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”
“And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” Exodus 14:13-14 (ESV)

Look at the promises! Wow, what comfort and love the Lord has for His people! What a word that came from the Lord ready not only to demonstrate His great and mighty power for His people against their enemies but displaying His great love for His son Israel.
Likewise, God sent His Son, The Lamb of God who was slain to provide blood on the doorposts of our hearts, to inaugurate the Passover celebration. God’s firstborn Son was “struck down” and poured out unto death on the cross to remove God’s judgment, destroy all our idols, and save us from wrath. “…take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs (Exodus 12:7). “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD” (Exodus 12:12). God took them out of Egypt with a mighty hand and outstretched arm not to let them be overtaken in the wilderness but to take them to the promised land.
“You brought your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and wonders, with a strong hand and outstretched arm, and with great terror” (Jeremiah 32:21 ESV).
The Lord said to the Israelites:
FEAR NOT
STAND FIRM
SEE the SALVATION of the Lord
He will WORK for you TODAY
The Egyptians whom you SEE TODAY
You shall NEVER SEE again
The Lord will FIGHT FOR YOU
You have only to BE SILENT
God wanted the Israelites not to fear but to stand firm and “SEE” the salvation of the Lord. Watch ME work again! Look how I’m caring for you! Don’t miss what I’m about to do! I will work on your behalf! You will “NEVER SEE” these enemies again! I will fight for you while you are standing firm and silent!
“Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. 22 And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. 23 The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. 24 And in the morning watch the Lord in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic, 25 clogging their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. And the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from before Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.” Exodus 14:21-25 (ESV)
Question 4: Even the Egyptians saw God’s power; they understood that God was fighting for the Israelites and against themselves.
