Lesson 12 The Gospel and Forgiveness
Questions 1 and 2
"Be kind and loving to each other, and forgive each other just as God forgave you in Christ." Ephesians 4:32 (NCV)
Welcome back to the course, friend!
Today we're going to study why we should forgive "just as God forgave you in Christ." We'll see how the cross is the key that unlocks the door to forgiving others. As we are looking to the cross, we should first ask, "how have I been forgiven"? Secondly, "how can I forgive others the way I've been forgiven?"
Friend, this is the message we share, that Christ loved us and has forgiven all our sins, even the ones the world may deem as unforgivable. When we see just how much we've been forgiven, looking at the sacrifice Jesus made for us and the price He paid for us on the cross, our hearts are moved within us! We are filled with awe and wonder that every sin we've ever committed has been put onto Christ and put to death in Christ. Jesus loved us all the way to death on a cursed cross, which moves and motivates us to extend forgiveness to others the way we've been forgiven, even to anyone who have sinned horribly against us.
Question 1: In Christ, our sins have been forgiven, canceled, buried, and removed, for what sins has Jesus forgiven you? Please list them here.

Please study with me through the following passage:
"A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. 38 As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them, and poured perfume on them. 39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner." 40 Jesus answered him, "Simon, I have something to tell you." "Tell me, teacher," he said. "Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?" 43 Simon replied, "I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven." "You have judged correctly," Jesus said." Luke 7:37-43 (NIV)
Question 2: Even though the debts were far from "equal," whose debt was forgiven and canceled?
