Friends, those who are under the law are related to the "slave woman" according to “the flesh,” but those who are under God’s grace are related to the “free woman” through a “divine promise” and the New Covenant instituted by the blood of Christ.
“For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.” Hebrews 9:15 NIV
Those who are in Christ are free, indeed! Free from the burden of law-keeping, free from the burden of self-efforts and achievements because Jesus set the New Covenant of grace in motion with His own death. With His own life and blood, He “ransomed” us and “set us free” from sins’ burden, which drove us under its weight and power.
God’s providence, sovereignty, provision, and power are all found in the death Jesus died at “just the right time” (Romans 5:6), as He hung like a criminal, exposed to the elements, and in public humiliation. What a Savior and King we serve! The grace of God wrapped up in frail humanity has appeared!
“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age” Titus 2:11-12
We are either under God’s law where sins mastery reigns or we are under the cross, under God’s grace, where sin shall no longer be YOUR MASTER. The cross is where we find the grace of God that teaches us to say “no to ungodliness” and “worldly passions” in this present age. In other words, the cross is grace for today, tomorrow, and forever!

Peter writes, “I used to be under the weight of my sin and the burden of my guilt until I realized that those sins were forever dealt with on the Cross of Calvary. Jesus took those sins and nailed them to His own body on the Cross. Without Christ I would be crushed under the heavy weight and burden of my sin. I am free because the blood of Christ has set me free.”
