Lesson 16 Sinking in Media Addiction, Lifted Up by Jesus!
Question 3
Peter was literally walking on water while he was focused on Christ. It was only when he became distracted by the wind and the waves, and took his eyes off Jesus that he began to sink.
This teaches us something very important. We can do miraculous things if we are focused on Jesus. If we are in the Word of God, studying the gospel, discovering Jesus, we are able to rise above our circumstances and resist the urge to escape into media. With our eyes on Jesus, we will triumph over sin, we will be victorious over our struggles and we will rise above things that seek to entrap us.
This is the power of seeing Jesus, of purposefully focusing on Him, of becoming preoccupied with Him. “And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne” (Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT).
