Lesson 19 Don't Take Media Out--Put Jesus In

Questions 1 and 2

Greetings again. Welcome back. Great to have you here today!
You know as I was initially getting involved with media, it wasn’t too intrusive. I did gaming initially, then kept doing gaming but added YouTube videos, then added social media which really began consuming my time, then I added podcasts on my phone, etc. Pretty soon media had worked its way all throughout my entire day, and then my entire life.

Question 1. In what ways had media worked its way into every part of your life?

Today I want to share a story with you that teaches us what to do about this problem of media permeating every aspect of our lives so much so that it becomes detrimental. Let’s look at it together:
2 Kings 4:38-41 NLT  Elisha now returned to Gilgal, and there was a famine in the land. One day as the group of prophets was seated before him, he said to his servant, “Put a large pot on the fire, and make some stew for the rest of the group.”  (39)  One of the young men went out into the field to gather herbs and came back with a pocketful of wild gourds. He shredded them and put them into the pot without realizing they were poisonous.  (40)  Some of the stew was served to the men. But after they had eaten a bite or two they cried out, “Man of God, there’s poison in this stew!” So they would not eat it.  (41)  Elisha said, “Bring me some flour.” Then he threw it into the pot and said, “Now it’s all right; go ahead and eat.” And then it did not harm them.

Question 2. According to 2 Kings 4:38-41 what was the problem that these men were facing?
