Lesson 17 Warring Against Our Flesh: Confessing And Prayer

Question 4

Yes, the instruction is, if we find ourselves either physically or spiritually sick, to confess our sins “to one another,” and pray for each other. Call an elder of the church and have him pray for you. And the promise is that we would be healed, forgiven and restored.
With physical sickness, God may heal and raise us immediately, or He may lift us to heaven where we will be eternally healed, never to get ill again.
With spiritual sickness, the promise is that we would have “forgiveness” (verse 15) and that God would save us from death, and cover our sins (verse 20). Notice the grace that flows from confession and prayer and the benefits we receive by this grace.
This is the promise to all who will confess and forsake their sin:
Proverbs 28:13-14 ESV Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. (14) Blessed is the one who fears the LORD always, but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

Question 4. What is the promise and what is the warning found in Proverbs 28:13-14?
