Lesson 29 Warring Against the Flesh, Praying God’s Word
Questions 4 and 5
I’ll pray Ephesians 6:12 here:
Lord Jesus help me to never wage war against another human being, for my battle is not against flesh and blood. Help me, rather to fight hard against Satan and his evil hordes, those powers of darkness that want to obscure the light of the gospel and take me captive to lust and sin. Lord Jesus, I see you went into that very darkness on the cross, where you hung for 3 hours under physical darkness and spiritual oppression, to rescue me out of the darkness and put me in your Kingdom of light (Colossians 1:13). So help me know how to wrestle today, clinging to you as did Jacob. Give me a specific plan against Satan’s schemes to make me more than a conqueror through Jesus who loved me (Romans 8:37)!
Here is my prayer from Ephesians 6:14:
Father, you’ve told me to stand firm, which I take to mean that I am not to allow myself to be tackled by temptation and thrown to the ground by Satan. I see that you’ve given me the belt of truth to wear, so help me not to believe the lies of Satan or the teachings of this world that depend on human tradition and human wisdom rather than on Christ and His cross. You’ve given me the breastplate of righteousness. My heart is protected because Jesus removed my sin on the cross and gave me His righteousness, which now surrounds me. I’m right with you through Jesus’ death for me! I’m right with you because Jesus removed my sin. I’m right with you because Jesus rose to justify me. I’m standing today, Lord, in your truth and your righteousness.
