Lesson 47 Washing At The Cross: Jesus Purchased Your Victory

Questions 4, 5 and 6

The Philistines concluded that they had won a great victory, through their false god, over Samson, and all the Israelites. When they saw him in his weakened state; blind and pitiful, being led around by a boy, they mocked him and scoffed at him. They saw him in weakness and defeat, about to die.
When Jesus was assaulted, when He had His back furrowed like a field, his beard plucked out, his face beaten, his hands and feet nailed to a tree, it looked like the enemy had gotten a great victory. When Jesus hung on the cross, possibly King Herod looked on and concluded that Jesus was no longer any threat to his kingdom. There He was in weakness and defeat, about to die.
You may have been beaten up by sin like I was, bruised by Satan’s blow and knocked out and kicked down. But friend, this is not the end. The cross will have the final word in your life--that word is forgiven, reconciled and made useful! God’s grace will pick you back up, and you will get the victory over the enemy!
And Samson grasped the two middle pillars on which the house rested, and he leaned his weight against them, his right hand on the one and his left hand on the other. (30) And Samson said, “Let me die with the Philistines.” Then he bowed with all his strength, and the house fell upon the lords and upon all the people who were in it. So the dead whom he killed at his death were more than those whom he had killed during his life. Judges 16:29-30
