Lesson 38 Washing At The Cross: Our Victory Over Satan

Question 7

Think of the logic of these verses for a moment:
The only one who can bring any charges against you is God. But at the cross of Christ, God justified you. He won’t ever bring any charges against you because He has already justified you!
The only One who can condemn you is Jesus Christ, the Judge of all the earth. But this Judge died for you and was raised to life to justify you, and now intercedes for you. He will never condemn you because He was condemned for you (see Romans 8:1). As the old hymn says, “In my place condemned He stood, sealed my pardon with His blood; Hallelujah, what a Savior.”

Do you see the glory of the gospel here? Only God could bring any charges against you, and He has justified you. Only Christ could condemn you, and He has died for you and has risen to intercede for you.
What can Satan say? Nothing. He’s been disarmed, silenced and triumphed over at the cross! Who can condemn you? No one!
What does this mean for you today? It means you’ve been set free! You’ve not only been pardoned and forgiven; you’ve been released! Jesus’ death means your freedom! Freedom from any accusations from the devil, freedom from condemnation from God!
It also means that through putting faith in this good news, and repentance from sin, you can finally have freedom from the voice of your own conscience (1 John 3:20)! Nobody can accuse you, not even your thoughts! You are truly free!
In the next lesson, we will look at a new and powerful illustration of this freedom!

Question 7. Are you finding the lessons relevant to your situation? Are you experiencing victory over sexual impurity? Let your mentor know of your struggles and concerns. Be sure to ask questions about anything that is unclear. Your mentor wants to hear from you and pray with and for you. Let them know.
