Lesson 12 Warring Against the Flesh: Judge, Condemn and Crucify Sin
Questions 7 and 8
1 Peter 2:24-25 ESV He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. (25) For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Yes, Jesus died that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. He was put to death that we might put to death whatever belongs to our earthly bodies.
Please take a moment and consider the answer you provided in question number 5 above, about where you have fallen and where you have gotten access to sin. Those are the things that you must put to death.
As I’ve shared with you previously, I asked God to give me a specific plan to defeat impurity. Here are some things I’ve done to put my sin to death:
God showed me a way to completely block any website through Windows 10.
I got rid of my Facebook and Twitter accounts.
I unsubscribed from all websites that dealt with anything impure, or that were a distraction to me.
I deleted the email account that I had used to contact people for sexual impurity.
I broke off all relationships with women who were not my wife and with whom I had been immoral.
I did these things because God had filled my heart with His love at the cross, and I wanted desperately to be free.
I cannot give you a list of things you must do to be free because each person’s situation is different. What the Bible does, however, is tell us to put to death those things that are earthly in us, and encourage us to seek God to give us a personalized plan to do so.
Question 8. Please pause and pray. Ask God to reveal to you what things need to be judged, condemned and crucified in your life. Then please list them here, stating specific actions you have, or will, take to destroy them.
