Lesson 55 Washing at the Cross Leads to Worshipping the Lamb

Question 3

On that day, a fountain would be opened “to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness,” and also God would “cut off the names of the idols from the land.” He would remove the spirit of impurity from His people and remove their idolatry on that day.
That day” is the day when God’s “only child,” Jesus, was pierced on the cross (Zechariah 12:10). It was on that day that the fountain of cleansing would be opened to all, when God would destroy idolatry from the land and restore true worship of the Living God.
When people see God working on their behalf, when they experience His power, they begin to worship. When you see that while you were still a sinner, that is, when you were in bondage to gratifying the lusts of your flesh, when you were turning to images or illicit relationships over and over, it was then that Jesus loved you and gave Himself for you (Galatians 2:20). Doesn’t this love humble you and cause you to be grateful to Jesus?
Before you lifted a finger to obey Him, before you were even capable of turning to Him, He turned to you. You ran from Him; He came for you. You hung out with your sin; He hung on a cross for you. You lived for pleasure, and He died for you. Doesn’t that give you pause, and stir up worship in your heart for Jesus?
Do you see what He did for you on the cross? How He died for you while you were still a sinner? How He loved you while you went about your way disregarding Him? How He pursued you clear to His execution? Do you see that? Do you see Him hanging in your place, pouring out His life for you, dying your death? Loving you beyond words? If so, then isn’t your natural response to worship Him in your heart?

Question 3. Considering everything that Jesus accomplished for you at the cross, what would you say to Him right now?
